Small crowd, very attentive. It was wonderful to get up again onstage and share my writing, my characters, my \u2018take\u2019. In this day of cell phones, ipads and plugged in technology, there is nothing quite like sitting in a room and hearing another person speak. Listening to that person. Making eye contact.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caitlinhicks.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Young-Gertie-poster4.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Young Gertie poster\" src=\"http:\/\/www.caitlinhicks.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Young-Gertie-poster4-781x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"781\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are a few encouraging comments, received:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWonderful show, Caitlin. Completely engrossing, satisfying. You mentioned several times about how \u2018nice it is to be heard\u2019. How nice it is for me, in the audience, to hear MY own voice, MY heart in your stories.<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"http:\/\/www.caitlinhicks.com\/wordpress\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And I think this is the magic of your writing, and performing. That I can hear my own life so clearly drawn, and felt, in yours. Super big hug.\u00a0-Ben<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hi, Caitlin. I&#8217;m so glad I decided to take in your wonderful solo performance\/reading. I can&#8217;t tell you how much I enjoyed it; it was a very moving experience.&#8221;\u00a0&#8211; Lis<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust got in from seeing Gertie\u2019s Night Out, at the Sechelt Arts Centre starring Caitlin Hicks who both wrote and performed a staggering one woman show. She shared humour and sober, intimate moments from her struggle growing up in a family of fourteen brothers and sisters. Caitlin transformed herself into characters with accents and intonations, without costumes, props, music or special lighting.
