Finding a cover for KENNEDY GIRL

This is a really fun stage of the process. We’re experimenting with cover images to capture the essence and communicate themes, add some mystery. Have a look at these and tell me what you think: you’re in a bookstore and you see these covers – Without words, which one would you pick up and what does it suggest to you?

Here’s a short description of the novel:

Uncontrollable events upend the lives of two teenagers the night of RFK’s assassination when a black dancer and a white singer chase his ambulance through the streets of Los Angeles. Driving home, as RFK struggles for his life in hospital, the duo is pulled over by Los Angeles police.

“But the universe was not about to let us go. We inhabited an uncertain space where the fluid, mysterious forces of existence could be twisted in any direction. Bobby was still alive. He could live or he could die. Anything could happen.” – From KENNEDY GIRL by Caitlin Hicks, copyright, 2019

Annie, her brother Bart (AWOL from the Navy) and Lucas (fleeing a Black Panther shootout in Watts) drive up the coast of California to Canada in 1968, one of the most volatile years of the Sixties. Features ‘unforgettable’ Annie Shea, from the author of award-winning A THEORY OF EXPANDED LOVE.

Please I invite you to comment on these covers. What do they suggest to you?
